Keeping the Promise to Remember

Since 2015, the Town of Needham has been designated a Purple Heart Community. Every August since then it has designated a Purple Heart Day and encouraged people to display flags and remember those who have served and sacrificed in the name of this country. A growing tradition has been to recognize those who have been awarded the Purple Heart medal in a gathering where their names are spoken aloud. We were able to attend this year’s ceremony, which was it’s largest one yet.
