Despite a packed agenda, the most surprising news at the Select Board meeting on October 24 came late, when Town Manager Kate Fitzpatrick announced her plan to retire next summer. While few details were shared, Fitzpatrick noted she would discuss the transition plan at the board’s next meeting. Additionally, the board voted to support the development of a three-story, six-unit residential building on Chestnut Street through the Local Initiative Program (LIP). LIP allow developers to bypass local zoning regulations in exchange for including a certain number of affordable housing, while giving the participating municipality greater control over future rental increases.
