On April 9th, The Needham Diversity Initiative hosted an event at Eliot Elementary School entitled “Race, Sports & Protest: A Community Conversation.” The program featured three guest speakers:

  • William “Smitty” Smith, Executive Director of the National Center for Race Amity at Wheelock College
  • Bill Littlefield, Needham Resident and host of “It’s Only a Game,” on NPR/WBUR
  • Jim Hirsch, Needham Resident and author of books such as “Hurricane: The Miraculous Journey of Rubin Carter” and “Willie Mays: The Life, the Legend”
