Town Government 101 now airing!

The Needham League of Women Voters and Needham Community Education have come together this year to produce the Needham Civics Series, four workshops that explore government at different levels. Together the series aims to give students a chance to learn about the various forms of government, from Needham to Washington D.C., and ask questions about how it operates, how to become involved, and why things are the way they are. The first event, held on March 4th, was Town Government 101. From the NCE Catalog, the event offered participant a chance to: Spend an evening learning about local government. Kate Fitzpatrick, Needham Town Manager, will provide an overview of the various forms of local government that are found in the U.S. and Massachusetts. She will then focus in on the structure of Needham’s town government and the roles of the Town Manager, Select Board, elected and appointment committees, and Town Meeting. Town services, critical issues that the Town will be addressing in 2020, and resources for further investigation will be discussed, followed by time for questions and answers.
