Win Streak Reaches Ten for Boys Lacrosse

May 17, 2024 • Needham blasted Framingham 16-5 at Memorial Field.

Needham Boys Lacrosse (13-4), ranked #6 in the MIAA Division 1 rankings, brought a nine game win streak into their third to last game of the regular season, a Bay State Conference matchup with #18 Framingham (8-8). The Needham Channel was there, broadcasting live with a multi-camera shoot. Did you see all of our cameras there? The Rockets have one of the best longstick duos in the state, with Jimmy Kenney heading to Notre Dame and Jack Curran going to Richmond.

Framingham, however, scored first, just over a minute into the game. It took Needham nearly four minutes into the first before the found an equalizer, as Junior Jay Veidenheimer scored the first Rockets goal. The game remained tied 1-1 for nearly three minutes, before Sophomore Cal Sullivan put Needham on top for good.

Two and a half minutes later, the Rockets started an offensive flurry that had the Flyers spinning in all directions. Needham scored four goals in a minute, with Sean Reilly, Jack Curran, Nick Sewall and Spencer Chapman reaching the back of the net.

With little time left in the first quarter, Chapman scored again, followed by Niall O’Malley to put the Rockets on top 8-1 at the end of the first quarter. They would take a 12-2 lead to halftime, then a 14-3 lead at the end of three quarters. With the win, Needham has now won ten in a row, including the last two being tough ones on the road, Tuesday May 7th, 14-8 at rival Wellesley and before that, Saturday, May 4th 7-6 at Hingham.

Needham will head to Braintree on Tuesday, before finishing their regular season on Thursday, May 23rd, where they will host Walpole on Senior Night at 6:45pm. The Needham Channel will be recording that game, which will air later in the week.
