Needham Planning Board, 6/18/24


A change in venue seemed just the right way to kick off summer for the Planning Board, who had restaurants on their minds, green-lighting plans for a new noodle place downtown and seeking to make outdoor dining permanent for Sweet Basil. They also negotiated a disagreement between neighbors about border plantings and dreamed big about replacing the old Carter’s building at 100 West Street. 1) Public Hearing: 998 Great Plain Avenue
WR Noodle Group, Inc., Petitioner
Request to renovate the former retail space for use as a full-service noodle restaurant with 36 seats and a takeout station.

2) Public Hearing: 936-942 Great Plain Avenue
Yeat, Inc. d/b/a Sweet Basil, Petitioner
Request to permit the addition of 11 year-round outdoor seats by Sweet Basil adjacent to the building along with the associated parking waiver, as well as parking waiver for additional parklet seats to be subsequently requested of Select Board.

Request to expand the existing restaurant (located at 882-886 Highland Avenue) by 650 square feet into the adjoining commercial space, formerly a nail salon.
