• Ahead of a public hearing on the FY’26 budget planned for January 14th, the Needham Public Schools are looking to decrease the bottom line by $2.5 million. When Superintendent Dan Gutekanst presented his initial plan for the FY’2026 Budget, the outlook was that revenues would allow for growth and development in key areas. Over the past month, those projections have changed, as the town anticipates greater health care costs and decreased town revenues. This has left administration looking for ways to pare down their expectations for the upcoming year. As he reported to the school committee at their January 7th meeting, the decisions they have to make are not easy ones.
