Zoning Board of Appeals, 5/21/26

Two matters were before the Zoning Board this evening. In the first case, a dedicated parent rents space with the intent of creating a training facility for a promising young athlete. Following that, the Needham Housing Authority sought relief from the obligation of burying new power lines for their upcoming project on Seabeds Way. Although they own the property that the poles would inhabit, the request may be more complicated than the Authority hoped… The meeting is currently available for viewing in the window below:

Agenda:

Minutes: Review and approve Minutes from the March 19, 2026 meeting

Case #1 – 60 Kendrick Street
Paisley Boney, tenant, applied for a Special Permit to allow an indoor athletic or exercise facility and to waive strict adherence with off-street parking requirements. The relief is associated with a proposal for the operation of a private, indoor athletic or exercise facility, not open to the general public.

Informal Matter – 40 Seabeds Way
Needham Housing Authority requests the elimination of a condition which reads: “All utility lines including the fire alarm system shall be placed underground.” The Petitioner requests permission for upgraded electrical lines and fire alarm lines (if needed) to be aboveground from their connection to existing pole and wires at Evergreen Road, to the transformer close to the nearest of the Seabeds Way buildings.
